I've been with Farmers and Mercantile a few years now. Never had to make a claim with them but good service and premium
I came away from NFU when they effectively trebled their motor element premium (no claims just how they then saw their under-writing), never got close to Rural Insurance or F&M since . Acorn looked last year and said they couldn't better my rateWas with F&M for couple of years and was unfortunate enuf to make a claim (7 month old can-am went up in smoke) 3rd week in May. Took them to end of August before they eventually paid out (was beginning to think they were going to refuse)
If that had been Nfu identical new bike within 7-14 days if its under 12 months old.
Maybe a wee bit more expensive but never had any problems when making a claim with them, which is worth a lot.
In past 4 years I've been back with Nfu premium has hardly increased.
Don't get me wrong, for years Nfu were way off with their cost but personally I think they've started to see it was costing them customers.

Avoid NFU at all costs .
or those fools have yet to claimIn Independant satisfaction surveys of insurance companies NFU Mutual always does well. Retention rates are also good so they must be doing something right n
