I make about 1200-1600 per year

Most contractors here are quoting around £9.50 £10.50 for a double wrapped 4x4 bale ...

Yes some just do the standard layers if using film which should work out cheaper

Film on film is roughly 80 pence dearer than net. For long term storage and for transport 6 layers still needed.

Yea but the post I quoted said his bales had 6layers of wrap

Cheaper to use contractor that uses the wrap only.
No net .

Wow, that's rough, the days of cheap bales are well and truly over I have been able to buy silage most years for less than the cost of baling a bale now a days, you would want to be getting stuff well wilted now to cut down on bale numbers.

Sun shine on the righteous....so that's me stuffed.

Anyway, what's the problem with the cost of wrap?.....it's the £15/bale for granules (or not) that's straightened me out.

Will be interested to see what round bale silage will be worth in the winter, last spring I had to pay £25 bale cause I was short, would be the norm now with prices as they are. Just had invoice for 2 pallets of wrap which is £6k . Crazy
