Heifer looks well grown for its age , esp considering it was growing itself and a calf too !Had this youngster calve yesterday, unassisted, bull calf, heifer is 14 months 20 days old ,anyone had one younger ?![]()
She’s a well grown heifer! Nice tidy little outfit there. Our youngest was 13 months 2 days but we didn’t get a live calf. We had it induced a week early but it must have been 2/3 weeks off when it came out. Struggled with it for 3 days before it just faded away. That heifer never was any bloody good!Had this youngster calve yesterday, unassisted, bull calf, heifer is 14 months 20 days old ,anyone had one younger ?![]()
That is some going, the bulls that serve our heifers must have given a little skip rather than a jump!Had this girl calve on 6th June. Born 20th April so not much over 13.5 months.
Calf was decent size for any heifer, but the heifer is tiny so was bit concerned. All OK but wouldn't want to make a habit of it.
Was a young bull in his first season so hope he doesn't get a taste for the heifer calves!

My son told me a couple of months ago that he thought she was in calf , thought it was just udder fat , outside she went until a month ago when she was showing more udder , again just dismissed it as another mate in the bunch suckling it until a week ago when she had a good bag of milk and realised sh!t on it , she was in calf, but she has never had any gut , the calf must have been stood up while inside her . Luckily she was in calf to her father in the back ground of the picture who is very easy calving and she has grown on really well and was around ,500kilos at 13 months old , she has bags of milk,is a quiet good mum , so am feeling really pleased but I know I've been really lucky to get away with it and on another heifer of the same age it would of been a complete disasterHeifer looks well grown for its age , esp considering it was growing itself and a calf too !
Plenty milk too![]()

Letter from the vet to BCMS coming up then? After a bit of a balls up, was searching about and found this thread, had one today heifer is 12 months 14 days old, had a live heifer calve (normal size) via side door job. Can’t understand how the mature bull managed it without hurting her, and how she held, she was only weaned at 9month old after out-wintering.
No doubt it won’t be simple and have costs attached lol. Must try and get a YouTube influencer/farmer involved and set up a crowd fund for her struggleLetter from the vet to BCMS coming up then?
No wonder it had to come out the side door!
