Are Bale Unrollers any good

I am thinking about buying a bale unroller to make life easier feeding bales along the front of feed fences. Has anyone got any experience of them? It seems like there are quite a few different ones out there to choose from, we would probably get one to go on the front of the manitou. Any ideas which are best?

We have a hustler, not used as much now as we bought a diet feeder but its a fantastic bit of kit, hardly need to throw up any silage and any that does need tidied up is nice and loose so no trying to pull round bales apart, it saves a lot of work in narrow passages.

Thanks for the feedback, have you got the chain ones that feed both sides? Our passageways are only about as wide as the manitou so I think I might have to get a little tractor to put it on otherwise after I have fed one side I will drive over what I have fed out - or do you think I could reverse back feeding some both sides as I go back rather than feeding all one side and then the other?

I feed out to both sides as I go along in narrow passages, much narrower than ten ft and you would have bother getting enough rolled out without it falling into the pens.

If you go down the unrolled route could you mount it on you machine of choice so it fed straight out in front of the manitou for example and drive down the passage and then feed as you reverse out and the beast would reach most of it if the passage is only as wide as the manitou and just a little tidy up at tea time?

did you ever think about buying a Round bale feed cart – it’s a self-propelled Bale unroller driven by a honda engine and you won’t need the hustler or the tractor…

Sounds like a two man job to me to avoid beheading the cattle!

Is it much of a job to set one up on the front of a handler? I'm hoping to buy one this winter to feed around the sheds on the front of the handler and also use it on tractor 3 point linkage to feed sheep out in the fields in snowy weather?

Ours came complete with the manitou bracket and it still fits onto the back of the tractor when we need it to... that is possible with the quad x one, some of the hustler models cant be used for both though, they need more oil services than the loader has.

What sort of money are they? Is there any on the market that could be towed with a big quad and powered by a motor or is that pie in the sky? Like the idea of them, but would like something that can be done by a quad as access to a loader could be limited

@romneymarsh has a Daytech I believe which unrolls out over the back I think. Chain drive from the wheels. May not be suitable for feeding in sheds - not sure what you're after.
