Our local [commercial] trailer supplier must have 50 bulkers in his yard. I'm sure you could hire some and match them with short term hire tractor units.

I use a small independent merchant he came and sampled my winter barley , left an advance payment for it . I rang and sold it on Thursday 20 mins later haulier rang will be collecting it next Wednesday,Thursday and Friday get balance of money owed within the next week
It says something when working for BS is the better option than bothering with camgrain
Who gives advance payments?!?! Did he leave cash?

But yet they had a 4 page write up about them in the march 19, cop production magazine, one guy from Bidwells is trying to justify their costing against on farm storage, and says,
"With camgrain , there is the extra cost of haulage to the store, he notes, which amounts to about £6/ton of the operational charges, plus the facilities and level of management and staffing you simply wouldn't find on farm. these have benefits , which are hard to quantify but shouldn't be ignored, such as those that arise from the immediate collection of grain at harvest. Another guy says "Grain has been collected as and when required" So back in march they were still touting the fast movement of grain.

We've seldom any problems getting grain shifted into @Woldgrain Storage .

What the Bidwell man missed was you need 7 days on Farm storage in the peak of harvest on top of Camgrain.
The 'Another guy' must only grow Winter Barley on his drought prone sand and Winter Beans on bottomless clay if he's been impressed with the speed of clearance.
The best thing to do is offer them feedback and work with them to find a solution for the future. I have full faith it will be sorted.

Yes quite right, I'm sure there are many ways of improving the process.
At present finding anyone daft enough to buy your storage I think is all but impossible.
It should be and could be the opposite where there's a waiting list and it's prized for the service and strong prices achieved.
Must say the Camgrain staff are all excellent in my experience, so no slight on them.
I think there's needs to be strategic alliances with hauliers as much as cosying up to end users. All the fluffy words don't always translate into a premium over what you can achieve with off farm sales.
This thread will definitely have been read and taken on board by those that need to know which is also good.
Within a couple of days but if I want it done quicker they would move at least some

I’m afraid supply chain is bulls**t and always has been, Malsters, millers, distillers etc are only interested in partnerships when supply is short. We as farmers are mugs to keep growing yield.
Also considering a large store.
