I was in our local store/haulier earlier and he had lorries sitting in his yard because of lack of drivers, not ideal this time of year!

I hear this a lot and don't always believe it. If you had a yard full of trucks because you didn't have the work for some reason (even if you parked them because the rates were too low) and someone asked what was going on. The easiest reason you can give is "don't have the drivers".

@Woldgrain Storage ive heard assurance blamed for many things but not being able to unload at a wagon at a central store is a new one on me! Our commercial store was accepting loads at 2am one night last week, mainly because we were still combining but others parties were still bringing produce in. Our bigger picture is we are farmers and contractors also! We understand the pressures that people can be under.

All now safely in Camgrain stores, some loads collected within hours, some next day quite a few were six days. Overall very happy with the Camgrain service (y):)

With this thread in mind, chatted with a few of the lorry drivers, I was surprised to find the majority said they were only getting 3 loads a day, they complained they spent an hour and a half driving to the farm and visited three different stores in a day and were not put on 'turn around' as they call it shuttling back from the same farm to store to clear.

Looking at the Cofco thread it seems slow collection is an ongoing problem for all.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
