You don't have to tool up for what we want. We want them to omit unnecessary stuff and produce something to a budget. If the asians can build a fully specced 4x4 for 36k with leather and infotainment then we want two seats, maybe aircon and a place to tie down a dog box for 30k or less. The price for a 90 in bog basic form was a joke. If the Toyota basic spec' (32k) could tow 3.5 tonne there would be no rural demand for a new defender.

We have Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger here, but no estate models like the Prado and Explorer. I think the Shogun (Pajero) is to be phased out here, could be wrong on that. Toyota Land Cruiser here are the 200 models aimed at the Range Rover market. Don't think the 100 and 80 series sold in any great numbers and we never had the 70 series here.

Damn if I could have ticked 'Genuinely Positive Comment' I'd have had a full house.

I'll give you your full house.

I think the looks have potential. I don't mind the change. IF it's a capable vehicle, with a commercial version which tows 3.5t spec'd sensibly for a realistic price and have a wipe/wash down rubber interior...

I'm all for it (y)

There you go, there's a genuinely positive comment.

I don't think you guys are getting the message here.

JLR want to sell premium vehicles to rich folk not reams of bog spec cars with more blanks than switches and steel wheels.

The closest this will ever get to off road or hard work is carrying some goons 8K bicycle to a gravel car park in Wales.

How the fudge can you complain about the size of the rear doors.

Oh but theres a winch...great. lol.

You know, it's possible to buy Toyota Hilux & others in a basic, utilitarian spec, just as everyone here seems to be asking of this new Defender
But does anyone in TFFland buy them ?
Reading various threads it seems like it's the higher spec models people actually buy . . .

Why would you build a basic utilitarian vehicle unless you could sell it in sufficient numbers ?

Yes, bog standard, utilitarian work horse that can tow 3.5t, with air con, infotainment system and leather seats for sub £30k. Sounds reasonable to me.[emoji57]
