Reading the opening post it looks like NFUM we’re charging 60k premium F&M reduced the premium to 30k.
Those figures of premium are not really relevant to the majority of Farms. More likely will be a few hundred quid reduction in premiums by shopping around

Not far of yes

forget the numbers though, look at the % savings. I suspect such savings are more valuable to smaller businesses than larger ones

I think @Clive is taking a knock unnecessarily. Reading the OP he us just offering the benefit of his experience.

Agreed. I'd rather he (and anyone else!) posted on here with their experience that others can benefit from.

Others may also be able to save 50% on their insurance if they have been shafted for years.

I do like to be loyal to firms, but insurance companies don't reward loyalty.

I don't know if there's a law so they have to contact in a certain timescale, they do seem a bit better, but usually it's a letter so I forget about them.

I think there's a lot of difference in the NFU between branches and agents.

Lots of truth in all of that!

im pretty site sure someone will always take my money

your loyalty is misplaced and probably costing you, i have no issue with that, it’s your choice but don’t criticise those us that choose to seek out the best deals for our businesses

Breaking news, F and M ripped @Clive off for 6k last year!!

I had 3 quotes last year for insurance.
I wont name and shame the more expensive one but NFUM were the cheapest by a long long way. In fact HALF what another mutual were and cheaper than the broker.

Always shop around for any product. If you local merchant/broker/firm is a little bit more expensive, so what your putting money back into YOUR community not some place 100's of miles away in a town or city.

We want consumers to buy local let's do a little ourselves if its sensible to.

Our businesses loyalty to the NFUM means with compatible quotes they give us the best deal of the 3.

Edit- other halfs cousin works for a large broker. She always says they struggle to beat the NFU when they are up against them in a quote.

Had a mate who would shop around and negotiate a price for a box of wood screws. Never overpaid for anything but never got anything done either. I tend to value my time a bit higher than that.

Insurance hasn’t moved in ten years - I get a second price to benchmark against and unless the difference is enough to compensate for the hassle factor of moving, it stays put. Thankfully, it hasn’t been as I really don’t want to put in the effort.

In the past NFUM went through a patch of being way out on all motor policies. Not sure where they are now as I've had the pre-call asking if they can quote but never any more follow up despite a reminder
