I know he's saying a claas baler but big bale South reckoned a massey 2270 would get 400-420kg and a 2270xd would be around 500kg. At I believe they said 11% moisture.
Mostly I just bale for customers but I do sell some. And financially I'd say I'm doing pretty well thanks for the concern. Not bad for a man and his dad who are 'just cowboys' according to some of the big boys. Never advertise and seem to be busy enough all year around with various jobs.
Sorry but you are wrong . My main suplier never bales under 500 kg . Thats with a hd baler mind . They would read no higher than 13% and he bales a hell of a lot , that straw on the ticket would be 10%
And how long does the baler last at that pressure

I find they run better at high load. Strings come off knotters better. More tension on everything.

Your very lucky that your contractor owns the only 120x90 Claas Baler to put out a decent bale weight, every one got rid of them for producing soft bales unreliably up this way.
Used to be a dream to get out of a thin barley crop (not that you probably see many of those up there) and into some wheat, you need the flakes going through to push the knots of the billhooks well. Was like night and day.
