would they know they were there ?New Zealand has already said that Australia's new subs will not be welcome in their ports or territorial waters.

They would scare them off with a Hakawould they know they were there ?
And that's the great thing about having a civilised democracy, when they p!ss enough people off, they're out! With the government we currently have in power the policy changes are not in the right direction.
There could be 10 US nuclear subs in NZ waters this morning and the government wouldn't know a thing about it.New Zealand has already said that Australia's new subs will not be welcome in their ports or territorial waters.

Nuclear powered or nuclear weapons capable vessels are "not permitted" in NZThey are nuclear powered.
Not nuclear armed.
Yep, she does seem more or less useless, but she isn't white, and I think that was your PM's main reason for giving her the role. There could be 10 US nuclear subs in NZ waters this morning and the government wouldn't know a thing about it.
Our foreign minister was all over the news talking about the subject though.
Oh no wait, she said nothing, just like she's never left the country since she got the job.
NZ is slowly getting cut off from the rest of the world.
Perhaps that's her plan?

Not the best of plans when the country depends on others to buy its goods.NZ is cutting itself off from the rest of the world.
Its certainly become clear that the jobs weren't handed out based on ability to actually do anything.Yep, she does seem more or less useless, but she isn't white, and I think that was your PM's main reason for giving her the role.
Heard that her - the FM's - party has started a petition to change your name to Aotearoa...
You lot really need to get some electoral balls in the very near future or you'll end up as part of the third world / CCP bloc, which is an appalling notion for a place as good as and with the history and potential of NZ.
Well, I've been in NZ a few times and - though I hate to write it - I found the Maori people rather underwhelming in the vast majority of cases, with two exceptions, those being the the chaps I've met in the NZ Army and some geologists I met in Zim.Its certainly become clear that the jobs weren't handed out based on ability to actually do anything.
We're a 'team of 5 million' until Maori are mentioned, there's a whole different attitude then.
I have no issues with the Maoris at all, quite a few of my friends are mixed race Maori, great company and would do anything to help if help was needed, the Government on the other hand are a different matter and their policies are creating division in what is a fairly tolerant and egalitarian society.Well, I've been in NZ a few times and - though I hate to write it - I found the Maori people rather underwhelming in the vast majority of cases, with two exceptions, those being the the chaps I've met in the NZ Army and some geologists I met in Zim.
The Maori make up less than 17% of your population (and that includes everyone with just a drop of Maori blood in them) yet your PM wants them to have 50% of resources and 50% of governmental power. Quite apart from the utterly undemocratic nature of this, I can't think of any Maori politician, ever, who is capable of running the country.
And as for the nascent separate Maori health service... ffs...

And at some time in the past they made up less than 17%. You can take this argument on forever but don`t forget that the Maoris were party to the "sale" which took place at the Treaty of Waitangi. At some time in history they made up somewhat more than 17% of the population though !
Perhaps the current Government is wishing to wear a collective hair shirt for misdeeds of the past.
If this sort of "readjustment" is the future globally hair shirt production will boom
I dont know the history but you are right...where do we stop and why should we start? And at some time in the past they made up less than 17%. You can take this argument on forever but don`t forget that the Maoris were party to the "sale" which took place at the Treaty of Waitangi.
Genuine questions: are you an admirer of the CCP and do you support the expansion of totalitarianism?Mmm After our defeat in Afghanistan the focus becomes the “threat” of China. These bogeymen all have the same purpose, selling US arms to various groups of taxpayers. It seems the UK government is he’ll bent on extracting pointless military spending from us. To those who say it isn’t pointless I would suggest the USA has no stomach for these conflicts defeat in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq et al proves that. Of course without the USA the English won’t be fending off China’s claim to Taiwan. I doubt Australia or anyone else will either.
Of course not. But we cannot influence it in a military way. It is delusional to think we can. The only way the Chinese people can obtain democratic freedom is to choose it and fight for it themselves. The USA won't help them. The UK simply doesn't have the capability.Genuine questions: are you an admirer of the CCP and do you support the expansion of totalitarianism?
I only ask because you - and some others - are very free with your criticism of much that the West does (although apparently able to hold it back with regard to the EU) yet never offer a viable solution to any given problem or situation. You seem to revel in the privileges of free speech etc. that you enjoy, but are loathe to see others attain them. I find this puzzling...
