does anybody use ashear grab to split round silage bales at the feed barrier
I'm guessing all bale shears are poor sellers then? I suppose that's why baler manufacturers are pushing film instead of net. Bonfires were never that fussy! For our recycling we have to separate net from film, so that’s no good
Someone locally tried that with a chopped bale it was a complete disaster. We just unroll them along feed passage with the hustler, best thing we bought for years.
I don’t have a problem with chopped silage,Someone locally tried that with a chopped bale it was a complete disaster.
Bought a feeder wagon to feed them in trough now
Ok when bales are very dry or on mature silage but if in short, wet or heavily chopped bales our hustler used to struggle. Diet feeder now, more diesel but option to add meal or straw into the ration.I don’t have a problem with chopped silage,
use it for straw bedding as well, OSR straw out of our rotary combine is like matchsticks but it will deal with that just fine

Never had the issue of wet bales as we run our own baling and wrapping kit so fully in control of how it’s made.Ok when bales are very dry or on mature silage but if in short, wet or heavily chopped bales our hustler used to struggle. Obviously lucky aswellNever had the issue of wet bales as we run our own baling and wrapping kit so fully in control of how it’s made.
