Always a superb a show, never fails to make me laugh. But I can think of at least half a dozen local civil servants around here for whom the following would be an impossible question to answer:
Could get rid of a lot of civil servants if we rejoined the single market. We've duplicated loads of functions the EU used to manage.
Numbers up since 2016... I wonder why......
Surely not if they join the "single market"True, a big downside to independece. Wales,Scotland, N. Ireland take note.
Would need a hard border then with more civil servantsSurely not if they join the "single market"
Scottish/Welch/English/N.Irish depts.of defence with their different weaponry and philosophy.Surely not if they join the "single market"
Scotland will sell england electric, Wales will sell england water and northern island will join Ireland. Europe will do philosophy and NATO defence, but i dont have a vote so it doesnt matter what i thinkScottish/Welch/English/N.Irish depts.of defence with their different weaponry and philosophy.
Different health services with different disease control methods. The list goes on and all admin duplicated instead of the efficiency of commonality.
Nah! Leave things as they are in our (UK) union
It's OK having one or two jolly idiots to keep us plebs entertained, but an entire cabinet full is a bit much.Quite like old Rees Moggy. He's no Nigel Farage .....but......
Not a lover of beaurocracy but I fail to see how getting rid of lots of civil servants will save money in the short term.
Unless they are on fixed term contracts (which I very much doubt) Redundancy or early retirement payments will have to be paid. Then there will have to be a recruitment drive as the Country is short of Driving Examiners, DVLA staff, Passport Office staff etc.
What's the yearly natural wastage? Not a lover of beaurocracy but I fail to see how getting rid of lots of civil servants will save money in the short term.

Getting them off the public purse has two benefits:
1. Reduces the total pension liability of the civil service.
2. They will be able to find work in the private sector which is desperately short of bodies in virtually every industry.
How's reducing a future pension liability going to help the economy this year?
