Are you lucky enough to be getting fenced ground? Or you like us and running your own electric around each field. When we used to do large number of store lambs that was the biggest thing to overcome, fencing.
50:50 on the away grassland but I’m well kitted up with Rappa fencing (and buying a bit more every year) so fencing land isn’t an issue, I’m used to it for the stubble turnip job

Yes to both rutted tracks and fields, I think a Pezzaioli would be even more out of budget than a plowman unfortunately. I’m definitely looking at a more agricultural budget

The Italian lifting decks can be got for decent money. I would expect £30k would buy a nice refurbed one. But they are road going only, not enough clearance for anything else.

The most common lifting decks on this side of the water would be:

1. Pezzaioli
2. Michieletto
3. Houghton
4. Plowman
5. Millson

& Then on both tractors and lorries:
1. Hudson
2. Murphy

Murphy make a nice body, to whatever spec you like too: https://murphycattlebodies.webs.com/

They're all cost-a-fking-fortune options though.

Chop the back lifting tray off of an old Houghton and stick it on a regular ag flat trailer, make a nice project.

Edit to say that they do come up on Livestock rigs sell & seek on FB every so often.

We have had a Stewart for many years now, looks as good as new and hydraulic sheep decks are great. Get an alloy trailer, we had a Lagan last time and looked good when it arrived but at 7 year old it had holes in the container from all the sh*te. Wouldn’t touch a steel Irish trailer if you need longevity.
I've always said that and often got shot down in the past but it's true

It would be 50:50 sheep and cattle use. An both in the same day. So having it convert from one to the other quickly would be good. Like the fly to roof.
I did enquire about a Houghton. But it’s nearly twice the money of a Hudson or JHC.
It’s not all about the price but still it’s a awful lot of money when it’s double.
I’m not keen on the bale trailer types it seems very high up for the weight side of it. I’ve known a few fall over when on bale trailers.
I’ve a Stewart 26ft with hydraulic 10ft long ramp at the back.,
Two front 8ft pens that have ifor Williams style fold up to the sides decks. Was extra at the time. Less than 5mins to assemble/put away. Hydraulic ramp at rear is incredible for loading.

just changed a 20ft hudson to a 26ft hudson , commercial running gear and hyd decks, the old husdon did 11 years and still looked good , alloy and galv came up well with a good wash !! no complaints at all and she did a lot of work !!!

How much was it if you don't mind me asking? In the market for changing our box.

My only advice is check the unlaydend weight of the trailer then add the total livestock weight my stock box is 5.5 tonn empty and another 5 with lambs in

Who did you have that off? Looking at options to put one into the hire fleet
