Weighing a bulk bag

Evening all,

Anyone got any ideas of how to weigh a bulk builder's bag, with up to 1t in it? Would be handy to have something that it would sit on, but don't mind picking it up to weigh it if needed.

Looking for the cheapest way!

crane scales on amazon not a lot of money.

Last year I needed to re-calibrate cattle crush weigh bars. Took a set of old tractor weights down to local scrap yard and asked them to weigh them. It was no problem, but maybe because I take scrap there.

If you have a known weight, say 500Kg new bag cake. Hang known weight on one end of beam and your unknown weight on other, put sling in middle and pick it up, adjusting position till it balances. Calc unknown based on distances from the balanced lift point. Need to make an allowance for weight of beam as well.

don't they come in usefull? we bought a set to replace dial on the cattle crush, that didn't work but weve used them no end!

Yes put strap round a bale or 10 little to give you idea ,and checked some bought in seed ,
and when drilling did weigh what had leftin drill just to see how close it was

Weigh cell fertiliser spreader. Be sure to put an amount of fertiliser in the bottom so the bag sits on that and not the grill or base of the spreader.

Years ago we used to measure silage on a front end loader by reading the oil pressure on a big gauge in the cab.
Calibrate with bags of cake and mark on gauge. Weigh with loader in same position every time.
Guess you're no longer allowed hydraulic pipes in the cab !
