As above really, I know there are various people who post in the direct drilling photo gallery thread but I was hoping some could share pictures throughout the growing season, this 1 especially, of crops grown at 250mm spacing (or there abouts)
It isn't really the year to be able to go cruising...

We have a 6215r with a Gen 4 display. We have a 2016 Kuhn 40.2 spreader, 2014 JD750a drill and a Vad Rapid Drill think it's a 2007. The Gen4 I am told will not do variable rate with my machines, they are too old. Anyone else having similar problem, seems a never ending spend with GPS !
Am looking for a shallow cultivator to work in front of my 750a to get a chit and create a bit of soil to help slot closure, mineralisation etc
Was keen on a carrier/joker type machine but I now think a tined cultivator would be best due to discs not moving all the soil and ctreating a...
I thought I'd show a few photos of our latest project, which is to convert this old co to dd, to convert the fan to hydraulic drive and at the same time replace the head stock with an updated one + we may try and fit a dry fert tank.
So far we have remove the markers and fix all the worn out...
Some of the stuff i've sown is, some is ok, some is terrible!
It looks like i've sown it too thin, but I've not, it is desperate for a good downpour, I was thinking while driving from them earlier, there's not been drop of proper rain since they went in the ground.
How's yours looking?
Hello has any one changed a older style 2010 carrier to a cross style disc pattern is it just as simple as swapping half the discs on one side front to back ? Thank you
It’s become almost an addiction here to drill rape for an early start to harvest.
The way our OSR looks this year we would of been better off fallowing for an early start. 30% was lost in the autumn which is now linseed, 20% has been put into barley or beans in the spring, 10% is in failed...
I ask, as the above tine is a superb tool for zero till seeding, in stony soil conditions as long as drill is driven slowly, tines pushes stones to one side allowing seed to be planted in to soil, rather than a disc coulter "RIDDING OVER THE STONE LEAVING SEED ON THE SURFACE!!!!". Have...
Good evening, how much does a decent deep rooting cover crop cost per acre in comparison to some form of low disturbance subsoiling? Just wondering what actual figures people are getting. I’ve had 40 acres drilled this spring with a 750a as a test to see if I could use this kind of system...
As above have/are your spring crops germinating more evenly than your neighbours crops planted more conventially? I only ask as an ex farmer, as there seems to be a lot of uneven germination in min till or traditionally ploughed/cultivated,drilled crops. Thankyou.
Hi,
Anyone have any experience just using the Vaderstad Carrier with Crosscutter discs as a shallow tillage before drilling? Im thinking about trying this to get the straw-breakdown going faster, as previous direct drilling has had some problems in wet autumns with the straw. This is in clay...
As above , the idea is that it will crush some clods in bare patches ,thereby creating seed to soil contact? I say that as looks to have been a job to conserve moisture where crops have been planted conventionally.
Has anyone fitted weights to the new toothed closing wheels on pro series openers?
Standard units do a good job in most conditions but there are places where more weight / more spring pressure would be better.
Get weights made or better just to change to gutters and weights?
