Good afternoon all,
I wanted to let you know that we've opened the Sustainable Farming Incentive for applications today.
You can find a summary of what's available in this initial rollout here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/a-summary-of-the-sfi-in-2022 - we'll be expanding the scheme to cover...
I'm aware easy calving bulls have shorter gestation. Does the same hold true for easy lambing rams?
My ewes are due from today (150 days since rams went in). But a large proportion of the easy care sired lambs have been born in the last 4 days.
Any thoughts?
Anybody go? The Good, the Bad, the Ugly? Watching the first video on Youtube ground conditions looked testing with wet clay land and the soil pit actually filling with water overnight!!
Interested to hear people who went thoughts?
Cheers
Alistair

Currently spend quite a bit on pumping:poop::poop::poop::poop::poop:, particularly double pumping up to 3500m. would average out at probably 2000+m of pipe. What would be the best options for single pumping as far as we can?
go to bigger pipes? thinking maybe 800-1000m of 6" then about the same...
Looking for ideas on how to cool grain - something we need to get better at.
We currently use pedesatals, but with a shed width of 33' per side, they're a bit wide for one but too narrow for two. Arguably more fans and auto controls would help improve things and is an option worth considering...
With the rise in price of fert, feed and seemingly everything else in this day and age some people I've been speaking to have been looking at not carrying as much stock over the next couple of years just to see how everything plays out. But on the other hand the rise of using sexed semen on...
Bought a new item in August

Study by Natueal History Museum states that the UK has lost 47 percent of its biodiversity due to "development and intensive farming " and potentially we are teetering on a biological disaster
The UK is ranked lowest of the G7 countries for biodiversity and of course BBC (who may well be...
I’ve had an email yesterday that CF are stopping production of AN at Billingham and Ince, due to the cost of gas . It doesn’t say how long for, but it’s not good news
How have government allowed one company to have all the AN production in the uk . I thought there were laws regarding monopolies
