Probably best to get a new Mitsubishi Triton, by far the best value 4x4 ute currently on the market, better than current Hilux, and Isuzu D Max/Mazda BT50 and without the potential issues of the Landrover inspired Ford/VW 3.0 V6, and nor is the Ford/VW worth the premium that could be used to go to Vegas.Anyone recommend any good places to buy a truck. Looking at swapping mine. Location not as important as the service received. Looking for a Hilux ideally

err, if looking for a 4 x 4 / Hilux ?
how about trying a Toyota dealer ?
if looking for a “truck”, how about a Mack or Kenworth dealer ?
To be fair the entry level full sized pick up trucks (North America) are fairly shít, actually quite slow, dodgy engines and lucky dip transmissions, if you get the GMC you really need the 6.6 Duramax, the Ram with the 6.7 Cummins (not the 3.0 Ecodiesel..).and the Ford needs the Powerstroke if your going to do anything seriously.
Could happen to any brandI’d avoid a Hilux, the brakes failed on mine last week, leading to an emergency handbrake stop with two kids in the back. I’ve never been so disappointed in a vehicle. Back to Ford for me.
It’s never been out of the garage in the 1.5 years I’ve had it, never ending warranty issues so maintenance definitely isn’t the issue. The rear line was severed by something, it runs along the rear of the rear diff and is pretty exposed to stones or sticks which is I suspect what happened in this case.Could happen to any brand
Depends on the reason for the failure ?
Was it a design fault or maintenance issue ?
Understood and your story is a sad tale of mechanical gremlins & faultsIt’s never been out of the garage in the 1.5 years I’ve had it, never ending warranty issues so maintenance definitely isn’t the issue. The brakes are just the final straw. The Hilux is garbage, as I say, never been as unimpressed by supposedly bomb proof vehicle. Build quality is akin to 1970s British Leyland.
I’ve just ordered a new grenadier from Loyd all road in Carlisle….Like a knackered hill farmer rattle ifor back truck or brand new 50ksmallwillyspecial
