Cost per visit £75
Being a small suckler man it makes it unrealistic
Get a bull I suppose

Yep, we had the same letter yesterday. Whilst I can understand basic costs increase for fuel, this is way more than that. Think it's over 4x previous cost. Plus the straws on top obv, but £100 per service is a joke

I was surprised by the number of inseminations they claimed to have done in a year. Looks like they've lost huge market share already. 200 cow AYR dairy could cover a big part of a salary for their own trained AI/hooftrimmer

Looking at this and another thread makes you think Genus don't want to AI cows,
Aren't there any independent companies/ AI techs in the areas Genus are over pricing?

£25 for me here a local man that includes the straw. Another man I can use £30 or £50 if there is two at the same time.
I leave them in the pen ,he does the AI and let's her into the field for me. Happy days

Frustrating thing is not long ago ordered some more straws so now not sure what to do
You would of thought they would give you more notice than a few days

I’m in the same boat. Got a load of straws in the flask but the price increase makes it unrealistic to use AI going forward on sucklers.

They tried to knock our local AI man down to working once or twice a week or something ridiculous like that last year or the year before. They informed all their customers of this as well. Unfortunately the bloke is very good at his job so left and went on his own and took all his customers with him. Now they have a wider range of bulls to use, for less money and you'd rarely see a genus van around here.
