Air to hydraulic

I have just bought a low loader trailer. It's on air for suspension and brakes . I connected it up to my compressor and it all works how it should .
Unfortunately my tractors are just hydraulic not on air .
I can put a ( I think) a mini compressor on trailer to run off 12volt to pump up the suspension but is there any way of running the brakes off the same compressor with a hydraulic operated valve to engage the compressor when I press the brake pedal ?
.....or is it a stupid idea 🤷‍♂️

....yes I know I should have looked before I bought ....but I didn't!

We bought a trailer some years ago that was a artic trailer and had been converted to oil by just taking off the air part and fitting a normal hydraulic brake ram worked fine, we upgraded some to 30 mm brake rams on another trailer a while ago made a huge improvement. If you are reasonably handy with tools that's probably the easiest way to go

You could always retrofit at air compressor to your tractor looks like Phil P. did one.

I would just wash it off, tidy it up and resell it and then buy something suitable for your tractor.

Removing the air chambers and replacing them with hydraulic rams would be the best way to go about it. Will still give you good braking too and the benefits of mostly cheap hgv parts for the drums

Yeh easy enough to do that but the suspension is a bigger problem?

Not such a stupid idea ! It's in the workshop atm up the road . Will measure it later .

Could work out expensive to add air to the tractor so worth getting a firm price before you leap too fast.

I have a sprayer that has a small compressor on board to run the air suspension. Works pretty well overall.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone came along in the next few weeks, offered you more money for your trailer on air than you paid for it.....and better, cheaper trailer comes up exactly as you need it to be. Watch this space..... 😂

But still needs air for the suspension .

I had air retrofitted to my 6810 Deere a few years back now, cost was just shy of the 3K mark for the whole the thing fitted, as I intend keeping the tractor for the foreseeable, it was money well spent IMO.

All my kit is on air now and it really is chalk and cheese compared to oil actuated brakes.

Can’t see why you could not fit a compressor for the air suspension that would be easy, then just get a air to oil converter for brakes, job done drink some tea 👍🏻
