Algae in water troughs

We’ve got about 30 water troughs on the mains supply on a couple blocks of ground we own and some we rent, and always have algae in the, some worse than others, and after putting in a brand new trough get algae within a month, wondering if fish would be a potential solution or if anyone has has and luck with anything else, all opinions welcome as it really gets to me seeing troughs full of the stuff, thanks

I don’t know about pond scale but I put a few lumps of limestone on troughs and water buckets, seems to keep them clear of green algae.

not generally a problem I’ve ever heard of

how else do they get copper ?

anyway, you’re treating the water, not the stock. The rates they’d be ingesting would be very small

Goldfish will keep it much cleaner than without fish. It will prevent what is in the picture he put up. Have to get the stocking rate correct though.

Looks like your troughs are on the large size compared to ours, bigger than some of our slurry tankers. 7000 litres. I feel like we’re just playing at the job.

Neighbour had algae buildup in his pond,stuck a bale of straw in it, sorted.
