I'm looking for a replacement for my transit custom van. I would like a 4x4 pickup , it needs to be capable of towing a horse box catering trailer and will need to pull a 2.7 ton digger for my work also ! Budget will be around £14-15 K . I know they drink a bit of fuel but what be the most efficient ? Is a manual or automatic transmission best ? Cheers Bry

Tbh only driven a Hi lux and ranger and warrior so only comparing to those and the Amarok was a country mile better
Going by what you read now, (but the op wants a 2nd hand 15k tops ) new pickups are not what they used to be, HILUX has loads of problems, Amarak don’t make em, mitsu pulling out, merc finished, fiat finished, none built to last, way of the world now! Old mk5 lux, bomb proof!

plenty of low mileage l200s in that price range

I have a mate who's just got a shogun I think it's an auto but not sure. I thought autos were better for towing but just wanted to hear a few different opinions on it 👍
Auto,s make you lazy though ,,effortless towing ,,reversing is a doddle ,yes they are abit heavier on juice but what you spend on abit extra fuel, you save on not having to replace the clutch .
