Breeding tags

Need to order tags for breeding ewe lambs. Have been using Shearwell set tags which are ok, have used Roxan tag faster as I like the matching coloured tip on the yellow tag so that you can tell how old they are if they loose the secondary but dont get on with their auto tagger. As I'm getting older my eyesight isn't improving so was wondering about the Roxan rubba flag tag and if using that which Primary to use with it.
Thoughts please.

I’ve been using Caisley tags in my pedigree flock for the last 2 years, having become sick to death of replacing Shearwell Set tags.
The same tags as the Beltex society uses, I put them in at birth and, from 250 or so put in each year I lost one last year and one this (as opposed to 10%+ losses from Shearwell).

A good bit dearer than the Set tags, but easier for older eyes to read and the fulfil that basic function of actually staying in!

Shearwell used to be the best now utter shite, spend my life replacing mule tags especially because they all put them on the bottom of the ears.

but what about the commercialls? i wonder wht their loop pairs are like ,the round like star ship enterprise ones..for longevity .
im not sure whaht to go for atm as im not overly keen on the qwik eid ones because the square blob with the chip in wont be such a long laster longterm /catch in wire i suspect, but i like /get on well with them for slaughter use .for a couple of years they go in older ears far better than shearwell sets

Used those when Brian first came out with them ,they were called Bubble gums ,they soon tear into 2 parts and then of course the problem can be over a period of time some would pull through the hole and be gone .

I’m still using Set tags in the commercial flock, for now, and replacing lost/broken ones every time they’re through a race. I record the tag replacements with the new number on my Stock Recorder, keeping records up together.
I need to retain the original ID numbers in the pedigrees, but not important in the crossbred flock, so just order extra tags each time.

Another vote here for Allflex qwik tags - Have used both pairs for breeding ewes and single eid for slaughter lambs.

Not had many tags lost over the years we have been using them.

Of course the only 100% way to ensure they are not lost is to use a Bolus Tag!

Allflex Bubblegum tags here for breeding and slaughter tags. Not impressed with retention. Seriously considering changing. Tagged at the bottom of the ear, if that makes any odds.
