hi guys
strange questing how much noise dose one make
as most of you know I have a few mental probs and loud noise can set me off a bit. so gave up my firearms licence cos can't be around gunshots
do the captive bolts make much seeing firing a blank

Hi @JD-Kid , I've done a fair bit of knackering with a captive bolt and although it is difficult to quantify noise , mine was considerably quieter than when using a free bullet pistol.

they aren't too bad , because i suppose there isn't an open barrel for the noise to come out from. the sounds deadened more than a proper gun.
how about wearing earplugs /defenders?

This is what I use:

I fire .25 caliber rounds through it. The sound it makes is certainly I lot less than say a pistol with a .22 caliber round. You can barley hear the cash special from 50 meters away. Using it sounds like a black cat (firecracker) going off. Overall, the sound is much less than a .22 pistol. Perhaps a little louder than a balloon popping. Not much more.

If possible, go to a processing plant and ask if you can listen to one.

I have PTSD and loud noises effect me even the gasping noise or letting the water out of the bath to wind at night can take me back to a event that effected me
it was a simple thing someone was snoring and stopped breathing then gasped for air a few times done it a few nights in a row for years been on edge with it. then all the what if questions come flooding in
it sucks but I cope

We used .44 CB guns at the works, they make a good pop even with decent grade 3s on

.22 .25 cal ones are about the same as a subsonic rifle round or less

Knowing more now, I would say that if the sound of a popping balloon is too loud, then at least the cash special will be too loud for you.

Maybe the only way to know @JD-Kid, is to see if you can borrow one from somewhere and give it a go

I had a hell of a flinch develop from longrange rifle shooting with big bore rifles and the CB guns don't even register as 'a shot' to me - but I know that's different to PTSD, although maybe The Flinch is a mild type of the same thing?

From what I can remember, they are quite quiet when new and everything's tight

I think you'd be alright with a captive bolt, they don't make much noise. Put a pair of ear defenders on when using it to be on the safe side?

There a bit duller of a sound don’t have the crack on them like a free bullet does more like a hammer hitting a heavy beam or something

Not since 1998.

I just went into a shop and ordered one. Never used it yet, as I've never had a situation yet where .22 subsonic or .410 isn't appropriate.
