Anyone using one of these? I have a demo coming next week. Seems expensive for a 3m machine but maybe a lot more effective than a harrow? What I am after is something that can be set aggressively to pull out thatch and moss. Also to level and harrow after winter poaching, including in horse paddocks

Which joskin did you get and how are you getting on with it?

I'll check model number later but it's got 2 rows of Spring boards, then 3 rows of tines and is 7.2m wide. Is used for levelling after paper crumble has been spread to break up lumps etc but has a nice aggressive action on moles hills and the likes. Galv finish is a bonus.

That's quite a beast. How well would a machine like this deal with heavily poached clay fields after the winter? Especially when we are blessed with clay that goes from impassable to rock hard very quickly. I use a chain harrow currently, but I feel like I could be doing a better job.

the roller on the back of a sumo gls or similar will flatten clay even in the bone dry due to the subsoiler legs that go before it loosening it up, its subjective though, some peoples "its a bit poached" translates to "its absolutely trashed"

I only have 65 HP unfortunately so a Sumo is out of the question. Definitely not a bit poached. Clay + natural springs + heavy horses + very wet winter does not make a happy combination.

Should do the job better than most but you got to catch the conditions right ideally do the heavy stuff whilst it's still quite damp so it doesn't hold together as easy. Have used a Harrow like this years ago to level a field before sowing. If it's really bad I go through it with an aerator first to weaken it and if all else fails a pair of 10ton flat rolls will put it down.the adjustable wheels allow you to increase blade pressure a bit and the width allows me to cover the ground without going like a nutcase.

Yes normally all over these threads, been ill ☹️
Knifes we have machines 3-4yr old and only looking at buying knifes, remember they are full reversible..
PRAIRIAL is a true 1 pass grass regenerator. 3m,4.5m,6.0m
Nothing else will remove dead thatch in 1 pass and level whilst doing some airation at the same time..

Prairial can be aggressive so will create some tilth if needed were overseeing is required.

Hurry stock is running low !!! Due to succesfull sales in early spring.

I BELIVE you will find a 3m Prairial does require some speed to work well, therefore my exsperence tells me 3m Prairial does more than a traditional 6m finger Harrow. (And more)
