Are they any good ?
Front axle in my JD needs a bit of 'engineering ' , gonna take a few weeks so need a quick 'backup ' loader tractor . Got the chance if a Case 895 4wd with loader.... not too much money ...£11000 .
Are they trouble ?
I will probably keep it after just as a spare loader tractor .

We like IH tractors. The Doncaster tractors can be very capable and reliable but it’s all about condition.
If it doesn’t start well from cold there will be a reason. The most annoying feature we experienced is hydraulic leaks which are hard to cure and lead to fairly big bills but remarkably parts can be found. The low L cab is awful compared with the higher XL cab. Not sure if they were available on 95 series but the 8/8 shuttle was dangerous. It is a forward and reverse lever with no middle neutral position. If previous owner kept on top of maintenance it should be fine.

Those cabs are available on the 95 series mine has one. The LP cab is fine for a loader tractor though if its only a spare Hereford won't be sat in it for 18 hours a day anyway.

They are crap compared to what you have got. Should do the job ok I have one as a yard tractor that’s about what it is these days.

What does the axle need?
No problem getting axle sorted , it's the time spent without the loader tractor that's the issue.
The problem with the axle was the pivot pins have worn badley causing the axle to be in a slant which then caused the propshaft to wear through the engine oils sump .
They have got it stripped down but its gonna take a bit of time to have the repairs done .

I’ve had 3 of those 85 series case tractors they all end up with the same problems
We got a 475 with a tanco loader on in 1980 think it was the bees knees then not now
