Any puma users that have the full power shift gearbox what are they like to use for round baler work. Dose it go back to gear 1 when you go from reverse to forward. What are they like to drive? Looking at a 18 reg 1 but never had anything to do with 1

There's a way of programming which gear it goes back to when you clutch. although I don't remember ours ever being an annoyance. I think it went back to 11 when you clutched which took you to about 12 or 13k I think. our baler isn't the biggest and that was more than plenty.although cvx now and that's a game changer.

Only downside of the cvx is you loose some power to the wheels. Cvx seems to be more reliable and cheaper to repair. I myself am not a particular fan of the two step cvt in the swb pumas but it is alot nicer then the powershift.

Been to see it today. Nice tractor full powershift it was a big difference to the old mx120 that it will replace. It will be a good tractor just waiting on another price for another tractor

Yes it went from 14 forward to 4 reverse then back to 12 I think but could be wrong.

Think it's 13-14 it tries to put you out the seat. Always seem to end up bailing in 13. Want to go quicker but don't want jerked out seat. Same when going down again.

Use a Puma 180 with full powershift for baling. Get on well with it, generally bale in 10-12. 12-13 is the big change that can be a bit annoying, generally if I have to go that fast we just make the windrow bigger. Our paddocks would be a lot rougher than the UK as cattle are in them year round so trying to drive fast doesn't pay. Wouldn't touch the clutch most day, just put it in N and roll to a stop as the bale reaches size. Can then select the gear you want to start in, 10 as a rule. If you are in N it will increase or decrease both the forward and reverse gear. Occasionally an issue when you want to reverse in a hurry and you're in 1 reverse.

Have driven a Puma 195 with CVX, couldn't use it on the baler as it wasn't plumbed up right, and can see that it would be perfect for baling. Very smooth and precise speed control would be great for baling. Not much for using tractors for roadwork here, that's what trucks are for, but I will say that the 180 destroyed the 195 on the road. The 195 gets to the same speed but didn't have the same pulling power. Also the school boy in me loves the sound of a good gear change under load.
