Are they any good? One advertised locally. Would like one that adjusts the rate as you slow down I imagine this one’s too old for that? Would also be looking to add auto sections using ag open gps eventually.

Will be doing 120 acres of arable to start with, increasing hopefully as I take more land on. Perhaps some contact work too.

Failing that I don’t suppose anybody has something for sale? 24M ideally but would take 21 or 18.

Has it been MOT'd?
Most of those had big bore pipes with chafers own nozzles. Getting the clamps, rubber seals and anti drips for them was getting more difficult. Difficult to tell but that one looks as if it may have been modified. Any sprayer can have a rate controller fitted easiest with variable pressure and a speed sensor. Flow control is better but also needs a Ramsey diaphragm unless it's a centrifugal pump.
What control box does it have?

I Would guess that will have a TeeJet 844 with the section controls integrated into the rate controller box.

so I bought it… but not entirely sure how it works. It’s a teejet box of some kind. Seems to show a slightly different pressure reading on the screen to what’s shown on the dial, is that normal? I think it’s an 844 type thing but it’s obviously a bit different. The electrics have been replaced, I imagine with some off of a case sprayer… any help would be appreciated as there’s no instructions with it!

I think the control boxes have been salvaged off an old Case branded sprayer, all standard otherwise.

Looks like it's at least pressure base rate control as you can see you have to choose the correct nozzle colour.
Perhaps flow as well if it has a flow sensor.

I think it’s pressure based, I tried it with some water on a grass field that’s been sprayed off, was altering pressure to maintain the rate I set. But the pressure on the screen was around a bar under what was shown on the dial. Not sure why that would be?

Upon further inspection, it has a flow meter and is flow based, with a preasure monitor after the solenoid blocks. The dial reads from before the solenoids. The flow meter seems to be reading off a bit, I dont suppose anybody knows the easiest way to calibrate it? I put 400ish litres in the tank based off of the indicator and the box says it has sprayed 550 odd litres.

The spray pressure is normally lower than the air pressure in the Ramsay

Do a jug test to calibrate it. Just measure how much comes out nozzle in 60 seconds

When I did that it showed it was putting out over what it should be, fiddled with the adjustment in the screen and now it’s under so will keep fiddling with it. I reckon the indicator on the front of the tank must be a bit innacurate, can’t see a solution to that. Might make doing half tanks of spray a bit fun.

Tank contents gauges are always a bit vague and very sensitive to any gradients on horizontal bias tanks like trailed and mounted.

Other thing to check would be forward speed is reading accurately.

Check all filters clean. Sorry for stating obvious.

Often it's most simple things.

Weighbridge would be most accurate way of calibrating guage. Or fit a flowmeter. Not very cheap though.

Please do state the obvious, this is the first sprayer I’ve owned and to be honest the pa1 and pa2 don’t really teach you how to use one, just the laws surrounding them! It has a flow meter fitted already, that is what needs to be calibrated properly, as I think it’s reading off a bit. I’m checking the rate with it on simulated speed of 10k
