just wondering what combine belts your all using. Just checking round and seen a crack in the drum drive belt looked it up on agco web site and it comes up at £740. I’ve always used genuine but the price got me thinking about using our local belt supplier.I haven’t rung for a price but dont want to put anything on that doesn’t last.

You should try buying class. a rotor belt for a 580 is £1280. But see aph do them for £750. But needed it that day

Tend to use Gates belts as a quality replacement.

Bepco are really cheap for belts, so cheap you can have a spare on the shelf

Seen combines run for ages with cracks in the main drum belt, it's not predictable though.

You should try buying class. a rotor belt for a 580 is £1280. But see aph do them for £750. But needed it that day

Genuine Axail flow belt is 1/2 that price

First port of call Aph.

You will probably be able to find cheaper if you shop around but the Aph quality will be good and fair for the price (and the right belt)

If it was just cutting our own I’d be tempted to leave it as it might even do a season.but most will be contracting so trying to limit the chances of breakdowns.

Unfortunately some belts seem to be uncommon cross sections, which makes sorcing alternative belts easier said than done.

I've trawled through Gates's website, but couldn't find anything to match for most of the belts on my Deere.

It's always going to be pricy online. You are better to speak to people. Just recently went to an Agco agent for some spares which where £ 700 a piece for normal delivery terms to meet my order but if I wasn't rushed and prepared to wait 3 or 4 days for a stock order delivery they would be £480 a piece. Some saving.

I think belt quality varies quite a bit and I am not sure that you always get like for like from a belt supplier even if the dimensions are right. I have just put 3 belts on my combine. One belt had a different part number and had a different profile to the belt removed so I question it and was told it had been changed. When installing I could see why the shape had altered. If I had used none genuine I would not have know about this.

On a drum belt I would only use a genuine one is it can cause all sorts of grief if it’s not up to the job or slightly the wrong size.

Just like filters the machine manufacturer doesn't make belts.

I would say the Gates belts I have had were every bit as good as original ones just about half the price. I always feel at a dealers you are paying for the convenience not necessarily for any better quality. On line suppliers here will often do next day delivery so order before 4 you have the belt next day before 12 so the dealers are getting almost no business for stuff like this from me anymore. If I can wait the parts come from Poland at about 30% of the dealer price.

I always buy genuine Claas belts because I know they will fit properly. It's a waste of time fitting a cheap belt and then having to replace it again, they only break when you are using them and usually on a Friday. If you pay straight away you can get a discount from your Claas dealer.
