Companion crops in wheat

Anyone using a companion crop in wheat that is not killed by pre em but easily killed in spring or by frost?

Beans tick that box. Don't know what else works.

Oilseed rape also seems to survive autumn herbicides, cheap seed, and can be taken out in spring, but would bow down to more knowledgeable opinion. And late sept/ early Oct is theoretically too late to get a decent plant. Maybe that's a good thing though, so not too competitive.

Beans are the most likely , always have some in wheat following beans .

I was hoping for a plant with a small seed that I could just sprinkle into the drill while filling with corn, that would then just grow in the bottom to smother out any grass weeds but die off naturally around may after it’s legume‘us roots have fed my crop all year. Looks like I won’t be ticking that box on my SFI application

Linseed is one I’m looking at, will definitely survive Liberator pre-em.
Choices probably get much more limited if you’re needing to use big stacks of pre-ems.

Yes, and why, if it is meeting the objectives that Defra want to pay for?

Yes it is approved, someone has a screenshot of her approval.
I guess it's because you can claim the companion crop on spring crops if you meet the criteria.
Basically if you can show you have met the criteria, you are safe

I wouldn’t trust a Janet screenshot….when you sign that agreement (and thereby agree to the smallprint), you agree to the terms of that agreement.

I'm told linseed might work? Spring seed, flowering by Xmas?
