Conditions getting a little bit worrying weather wise

Had a trip down to south Dorset for a bit of sea fishing and it is really noticeable that down there crops are really starting to show symptoms of lack of moisture and some grass fields brown . At first I could not believe my eyes but by Christ I was gobsmacked with how short some maize was looking and cereals were burning up .

Certainly hasn’t been too dry here on a dry farm, ground conditions were pretty much ideal up until week last Monday, when we had a lot of rain overnight, this is what the fields looked like when I went to move the electric fence Tuesday morning.

I turned around and went back to the yard, the cows stayed inside for a couple of days, something I’ve never had to do before in summer. I’m sure it was the right decision as the Tuesday was wet all day too.
It’s surprising how quick the ground dries once it stops raining, and they were back out, having not trod the ground when it was saturated, making hardly any mess.
Just had to source some round bales to feed them for a couple of days as o didn’t really want to open the clamp only to have to resell it again, you just know it won’t seal tidily where you’ve been using it.
It did impact on the milk a bit but I’m sure it was the best of a bad job.
Been dry ever since until this morning, we’ve had some nice steady rain, just what was wanted.

@ZXR17 said much the same thing. He's down near Weymouth. The coast seems to have missed the June rain. I had 76.5mm here in June - it saved a lot of crops but the spring crops are starting to burn off again on the gravel patches.

I reckon we had the wettest June for a little while up here. I can see crops here and there looking pretty upset though.

April and first half May were scorching here... 2nd half May was cold with a bit of rain... June was cold and wet. It would rain at some point every day in the first fortnight of June, here

BUT the reality is we have had bugger all rain. The ditches and drains up the hill are dry - except for 1... the wet areas of fields which you keep out of, were still soft this time last year. This year we can travel over without fear in tractors!. The rushes are struggling, and look much weaker than at any point in the last 10-12 years.
