Afaik anything so long as it isn't red and you don't mind it mixing to a funny colour. Red is an organic acid so won't mix, all the rest are compatible: green, yellow and blue.

They're all ethylene glycol unless the label says propylene glycol. The anti corrosion additive package is the only difference, so I don't believe there is any difference in cooling at the same concentration. Cool guard 2 is a hybrid organic acid technology, so it has some old style inorganic corrosion protection that protects better, and some OAT that lasts longer. There are charts of the various types and what that company might consider compatible. But most will say that theirs is compatible with everything and none is compatible with theirs.

I think I'll end up just buying coolgard again but it is just so weird that oil isn't that hard to find a equivalent for but for this coolant it is nigh on impossible.
Most of my machines are high hour so I like to use good stuff, but if I can find equally good stuff at less money then that is money in the bank.

Be careful with anything Mannol !

Coolgard 2 is nothing special, it's a universal Heavy duty coolant with additive package. Any aftermarket coolant of the same color with corrosion inhibitors (or SCA ) will work

Well two antifreeze that I use one use nitrates and all the things which are good for anticorrosion and the other makes it sound as if they’re bad because they don’t use it

And both meet the d4985 requirements, talk about confusin.
An extract from my John Deere 6145 manual.it says coolant must be the standard astm d6210 . now that’s why I went onto Exol HD green with specification ASTM D6210 because the new Holland coolant container has a specification ASTM D6210 on it ,and dealer says that coolant has all the additives ready in so I thought it would be great in my old Fords .HD green says it has NITRATE in and is well proven to work against corrosion. but the John Deere books says do not use nitrate, but use specification.ASTM D6210.

It all seems a bl**dy minefield with all these different specs , types of additives, etc, etc...... For the sake of a few pounds I think it best to get the right stuff from the main dealer of the tractor (assuming they DO know what they`re about..!!) . Problems caused by the wrong stuff, in the long term, could be a lot more expensive than a few litres of ( often very expensive!!) what they want you to use....
Blinking nuisance that they all seem to use different specs and types just to make life hard for us - especially annoying if you`ve a brand A tractor with a load of coolant left from a brand B tractor that you`ve parted with...
