Excavator on road

You surely do not need a tracked vehicle license to operate an excavator on a highway. Come on.
As a contractor I have to supply copies of tracked vehicle on my driving licence and digger tickets
But then 90% Of what we do is arse covering exercises, rams, paperwork, training 🙄🙄 and they wonder why the cost of the contracted work has skyrocketed, we can’t just get on with the job like we used too, hence I love working private jobs

When I used to work on the roads we were mostly doing verge work, there would be 3 machines in a row with a road sweeper at the rear,if on the motorway we had to have a crash cushion following, two of the machines weren’t road registered but insured.

No you don't need any license at all to operate anything on a highway you just need to be able to operate it
you are confusing tickets and licences
You do need Cat H to take such a machine on the highway, but as a driving licence is a provisional for all other licences an L plate on the machine will do!
The machine should be registered and taxed as well.
However you do not need a ticket to drive it

No need for any of that, it maybe a requirement but not a need. :giggle:

Person either side to stop traffic (& the idiots who think can squeeze through), ideally in hivis so it looks slightly more official. Let people through when you can as not to pee them off. Have everything ready to clear up properly after, or part way through if it needs it. Then just crack on.
If anyone comments just tell them you routinely assess the hedge & its become dangerous & you have a duty of care to rectify it before an accident happens. We’ve stopped/blocked smaller two lane & B roads before to cut down trees. Look semi professional, be courteous & less questions get asked.

I got a tree surgeon to take the top put f a dead tree on a public foot path it was in a precarious position any way he was striving a bit to get the last big centre branch to come down and a person came along the foot path o, they said as he was working the branch ,I can I just go threw no I said
Just goes to show how some people don't understand the type of situations.

Bloke I play skittles with drives a digger and has some gadget on it that stops it swinging beyond a set place, would stop that happening.
We have several road side ditches that need some serious clearing am thinking of shearing the hedge off and digging from the field, the hedge is knackered and might get paid for renewing it too
