Just wondering if anyone has any experience of exporting into Germany recently. Had an enquiry recently.
Sent bulls to Ireland in the past but never sheep.
Thanks

nightmare : uk gov has no border posts they were going to introduce after brexit , quite complicated paperwork at the moment . You can do it but need lots of ducks in a row , Semen a better bet

There is apparently some progress of the new Border Control Post being planned at Hoek Van Holland & recently i was told that if all goes to plan it should be open in November meaning we could move live sheep and cattle across to Europe.
However since then we BTV confirmed in UK and that could compromise things a bit

At present until we reach a Vector low period for BTV nothing can move.
Then when you do get to it you will have to go via Ireland as the only place with a BCP.

There is talk of the Hook of Holland so as to facilitate pigs and Dairy Heifers but this has been talked about for 3 years.

Then trying to get the paperwork and Journey plan approved will be a nightmare and remember taht any sheep will have to be ARR/ARR. Similarly any semen will have to be certified it is from an ARR/ARR ram!!

Yes, Good Luck.

Pre Brexit it was a relatively simple operation to export breeding stock to EU & the only thing that makes it too difficult now is the lack of a BCP
Most sheep in UK will be ARR/ARR scrapie genotype (you can export sheep without genotyping if the flock is scrapie monitored)

Under current rules UK is 'Third Country' vis a vis Europe and therefor need as a country to be BTV free for 2 years pre animals can be exported to EU. I guess we can only hope that the EU change their minds on this in the same way that BTV vaccine approved i UK under emergency regs will not affect meat exports to the EU which is the real reason the powers that be were so anti vaccine earlier in the year. Hook of Holland expansion is definitely happening but probably not till next year which probably means that the first vector free period will be Dec 2025. Embryos and semen can be exported now

We export a lot of our breeding sheep to Europe, we have lorry’s going regularly this time of year and even deliver smaller loads with pickup and trailer.

We can also source stock for export.
