To combine 2 of @delilah 's pet hates, did anyone hear Minette Batters on the today programme this morning?.....

She's on from 1:34:50

I have no idea what her message was, it just sounded like a huge whinge with no sensible suggestions. Delilah is completely correct that this really isn't an acceptable way to represent farmers and farming.

Oh the irony of moaning and whinging about farmers moaning and whinging.

Having googled, apparently 63% of people polled want the licence fee scrapped with just 23% thinking it should stay, so it's not just farmers that belive this.

I personally think the quality of their programmes is awful these days and not a patch of what they were broadcasting 10, 20, 30 years ago. They seem to be spending most of the budgets on overpaid presenters rather than creating good content.

I'm still feel young at heart and listen to radio 1 in the tractor but that has seriously gone down the pan in recent years. They have filled it the dullest, monotonous rap music (if you can class it as music) with the most repetetive lyrics and backing tracks you could possibly imagine. Then there was that DJ Charlie Sloth who only chatted about sex while on air and the station has the like of doja cat and similar on the playlists so it seems the BBC are keen on promoting explicit lyrics and pornograpy to a predominantly young audience.

Of course there was that recent documentary where they sent an undercover reporter to work on a dairy farm that abused animals. Rather than reporting the farm to get them shut down, they thought it better to film it all, broadcast it and portray the clear animal cruelty as standard farming practices to the general public. Plus all the vegan propogander and clear naivety to the dairy industy as a whole.

The sooner the licence fee goes the better

It seems to me that the Beeb is now so bad for the entire population that it has to advertise itself..…..on itself!
“This is our BBC”
It’s obviously so bad, you can’t even download it.
Maybe it is so bad that they have to use it to fill the gaps between the awfulness?

And for the good programs they made back in the day you’ve got to pay to watch the old “free to the license payer” BBC content on BritBox. Well f**k that.

With the freedom to subscribe to so many excellent streaming services, why the hell should we all have to pay towards the unwatchable BBC? It’s time to remove the BBC’s water wings, and see if they sink or swim.
My money’s on them being bought out by Dave.

To be fair, there is some good stuff on BBC iPlayer.
If you are into ‘The Bridge’ or any of More 4’s Walter Presents, ‘Hidden Assets’ is well worth a look.
Also, the very early versions of ‘Silent Witness’. But of course, they were made before the Beeb went Bonkers!

Large audiences move where they want, such as Channel 5's "Our Yorkshire Farm".

BBC is struggling to retain any audience, not good when it gets privatised - which will be hilarious.

We would all be much wiser with no news programs , the agendas take some believing .

It's quite hard to take "BBC News" or indeed any other news channel when I have the misfortune to watch it.

Mostly a bunch of journalists talking to each other and agreeing they are right.

There are some good programs on IPlayer from the last 28 days.

But compare it to Channel 4's streaming service, which has thousands of episodes from 2nd of November 1982 onwards, and frankly Iplayer looks a bit sh!t.
If you want to watch 'Comic Strip Presents: Five Go Mad in Dorset' from the 1st day of Channel 4, it's right there, almost 40 years later, free of charge.

The BBC are guff. It’s not only farmers that recognise this. However to some extent I sympathise with Delilah, unless you’re prepared to take a stand and cancel the licence fee payment, then really you’re just bellyaching to no good effect.

I cancelled it a couple of years ago and have precisely zero regrets.

There is a chance that perhaps the music is more appealing to people a bit younger than you, and you may find you enjoy the music more on R2?

Or you could just cut the chord entirely and try a (shock horror) radio station that doesn’t have "BBC" in it title? I don’t have a clue how people can listen to the depression zone that is R2, it’s worse than aural wallpaper.

Just don’t take it too seriously. How people can listen to those infernal adverts all day on commercial radio is beyond me.

R2 doesn't appeal at all. Even Scott Mills R2 show is not a patch on his R1 show. I tend to just zone out when the dull songs come on anyway. I think the issue is they are trying to be PC & more diverse and include more music from their 1xtra station. The trouble is 80% of the music is awful and they already have a dedicated station to cater for people who like listening to tripe.
