Fix or scrap.

My lely rake gave up end of last year. Has anyone repaired the main gear in one of these? Or maybe someone would offer a few quid for it.

What do you mean by main gear? Is there some kind of a big crown wheel gear in there? I’ve got a newer version of this machine and it hasn’t been any trouble yet. Yours doesn’t look in bad shape, surely you could get parts for it.

The good news is that the crown wheel and pinion are available in stock with Kramp.. bad news is they will cost the best part of £1000 ! Strip it down and have a look. Remember a Neimyer rake coming to a stop because the bolts holding the crown wheel had sheared.

I havent been able to get it apart , but it will have a crown wheel type gear in it which will be expensive if it has damage,

Open it up and have a look. I bought a four rotor Stabilo from a dealer and by the looks it was an ex-contractor machine. The tines were clashing. I took about two buckets of grass out of the rotors and put it all together again. It was the grass forcing the gears apart and causing the teeth to slip. It looks like crap but does the job at the right price. If you weren't 500 miles away, I'd be interested!:D

I could get it going , did similar to my lely
Getting that centre shaft to drop down is the problem.. so it can be dismantled. Too sharp PTO start ups can shear the bolts holding the crown wheel. If that was the case.I would has a triangle out of the rear top cover ,extract the broken bolts, replace and weld the cover back in place.

Apparently new holland grass machinery is a good deal cheaper than the competition according to another thread on here so if ur lookin to upgrade might be worth a look

Take it to bits have a look some need pressing out I’m not sure if yours will or won’t.
Ring dealer up and get a part number off them if possible for crownwheel and pinion
Ring Northern Harvesters up with number they have a lot of discounted parts on the shelf but need a part no
I got one for my Fella half the money
