Seem to be getting mad about others affairs? Not at all! I’m here for the farming and machinery, not politics or constant moaning and pessimism
Yep, that’s a better plan

You appear to be about the age of my kids so obviously didn’t live or see the England i was brought up in, which I loved
The down side of that is, is that 21 century England for myself at least, is soooooo......
DISAPPOINTING
Good job you don’t live here then! I’m fairly happy with my lot thanks
If the ‘England you were dragged up in’ was full of people like you then I don’t want it thanks.
And yet here you are on the Political section of the Forum?Seem to be getting mad about others affairs? Not at all! I’m here for the farming and machinery, not politics or constant moaning and pessimism

RelaxWhen I lived in Paris in the late ‘90’s I would use CDG airport to make visits home. On one return fight however we were diverted to Orly on a Sunday evening where I witnessed French security forces of some sort herding immigrants onto “repatriation” flights. They were batoning people who stepped out of line. It is absolutely no surprise that immigrants try their hardest to get to the U.K. if the institutional racism is still as bad in France today as what I saw in the 1990’s. The gendarmes would set their dogs on immigrants on the Metro and take them away off they didn’t have papers. A much harsher regime by far than anything in the U.K. And we wonder why they risk drowning to get here. It’s absolutely no surprise at all if you’ve seen what goes on in France.

Some on here have “gone native” and their new foreign masters can do no wrong in their eyes. I find it ironic that they criticise the UK for being racist or intolerant when all I ever found on the continent was racism far worse than anything in the U.K. I remember queuing for hours myself in the Bureau d’Estranger fortunately for me in the UE queue. I watched the French civil service treat immigrants with outright contempt refusing to speak anything but rapid French and doing absolutely nothing to help the poor souls who had finally reached the front of the queue after half a day waiting then to be turned away with no progress whatsoever. It was a Fascist country au fond as far as I could see. Contrast that to the multilingual signs and assistance you will find in the U.K.It’s not worth your breath Dr, you give a candid and shocking reflection of how they treat immigrants in France and all you get is a sarcastic news bite in return.
That’s what you’re dealing with unfortunately, I’ll be ignoring the politics section from now on, there’s 3 really bitter trolls with huge chips on their shoulders on the prowl.

Clearly appreciate those who play their part.
Again as you seem to have missed this...

That’s another French delusion. English is spoken just about everywhere but the French have never come to terms with this reality. So a bit like the Welsh they will try to make it as difficult as possible for anybody who isn’t in their insular little clique. But in doing so they only make it more difficult for themselves to interact in the global economy. Never mind though. Let them get on with it.It’s in French mate, I can’t read it.
I studied German and Spanish when I was a youngster with my satnav, Far more useful languages.
Oh I don't know, 270 million speak French, comes in handy. Maybe 125 million Germans . And lots SpanishIt’s in French mate, I can’t read it.

Another myth mostly perpetuated by our amateurish sporting performance through most of the 20th century compared to those dastardly cheating foreigners and colonials. My old French colleagues would always mention one thing about the British. “ Fair play”. Something which is sadly lacking on the continent, even by their own admission.
Would that have anything to do with French and Spanish colonial rule?Oh I don't know, 270 million speak French, comes in handy. Maybe 125 million Germans . And lots Spanish
