So the french version of defra are going to give "financial aid" to farmers who agree to not use glyphosate.

But - its only €2500 euros. Which is easy money if you are organic already! But can't see that tempting many big arable farms.
It is way off being organic, no where near it.

I would take it tomorrow if it was offered,.

So your spraying 200- 250 acres a year with glypho

Well, there is another annoyance...
I was using a wetter then realised that the wetter was costing more than the glyphosate. Spoke to the supplyer, “use more glyphosate :banghead:
Funnily, spoke to son in the uk and that was what he was doing too ...
And it probably costs more here, particularly if you include the environment tax, as I did and my cereal area is 170 acres (took a while to work that one out😂).
Some of that is rotating grass so a stronger dose

I hope France is looking forward to increasing it's payments into the EU, there is about to be a huge hole in the finances. Or have you just shrugged your shoulders and gone on strike?
I've just done a quick search, seems to be about 7%. Looking at how my budgets usually work out that would be in the uncertainty range. Divided equally between the 27 they should be able to manage it if they look down a few sofas.

Yes, won't be divided equally but I always took it the 27, primarily driven by the remaining contributor nations would settle down to sort out the shortfall left by UK leaving and that it would not be that much of a shock given the overall GDP of the 27. And likely another myth debunked from the pre and post referendum claims and counter claims. Hey ho

That would be a fair risk. We will still have farm subsidies and a small percentage fine would soon out way 2.5k.
Oh, and there are many controls
There is no guarantee youll get 2.5k the total sum is relatively small and is divided between all who sign up to it, 2.5k is the maximum, likely less than 1k for three years non use, and a guarantee of controls,

SNCF (French Railways) are France's biggest single user of glyphosate, they have now developed and alterative. This is a product composed of more than 95% pelargonic acid , a biocontrol product (using natural products) and a synthetic molecule from the sulfonylurea family.
