Funny how silly and childish folk get when they start to realise the implications of becoming a third country are. The reality is, the EU can't be seen to give any special arrangements to one particular country without the many of the others kicking off about special deals and arrangements for themselves themselves. The UK is now free, for better or worse to try and find it's own future in the world. And as it's becoming apparent, the only deals around the world will be hard fought and there will be no "having your cake and eating it".

Fishing, yes economically it does not bring in much cash? but having controll of your waters and what goes on in them does ? look at the travesty shown the other week of massive massive ship like, not trawler size, that are currantly allowed into our waters to houver up anything including dolphins etc, what type of enviromental damage is that doing, not alone to the fish stocks ?

I would bite there hand off.

Its not needed to farm, just like a lot of other ' modern ' inventions. Mobile phones included.:sneaky:...... fancy pickups fendt tractors range rover s etc etc the list is long..

If you cant farm without it all then, retire and leave the land for someone else who actually genuinely wants to(y)

I know what you mean and sort of agree, well, I do agree. It’s just about cost. Actually, here in France the figure banded about all the time now, is that it will cost €80/ha to do without.
Hence this proposal is about trying to lead with a carrot before they begin beating with a stick

That extra cost would be on an arable farm or the majority of ?

Surely A proper farmer should have more rounded interests

Well yes.

For myself, a simple example is wheat into barley. The last two years there is no rain from mid June to mid September, yes, harvest a piece of cake but no volunteers, then when it does start raining it doesn’t stop. Glyphosate is a fast, cheap and effective way of getting to the next crop.
A agree still with what you say but forgetting cost for the moment, I just don’t have the appetite to be spending those days on a tractor any more, burning fuel and wearing metal (and metal REALLY wears here!)
