Fuel card

We have been using a card since just before Christmas.
Average price from 7 weeks 119.20. All ex VAT for Diesel. Pretty much beats bulk buying prices. This is a BP card.
Used to bulk buy and have a tank on the farm, but not using so much Diesel now so experimenting with a fuel card. Also we need a new tank so that come in to the equation!

That's interesting... varied pricing
Prices seem to be little more than arbitary nowadays, and bear little meaning other than to create max profits for the oil Companies.
I have seen the displayed prices outside fuel stations alter in front of my eyes - I confronted the site manager who told me that retail prices were controlled from “head office“ and could change three or four times throughout a 24 hour period 😳

We are fortunate in that we are able to adjust the mileage rates we charge most of our customers on a weekly basis to reflect fluctuating costs without upsetting them ….. Oh, the undoubted joys of working outside mainstream agriculture 😎

I expect fuel cards are a useful gateway for dynamic pricing. Lots of concerts sold like that

I got one before Xmas and cancelled it recently. Didn't tell me at the time there were local surcharges. 2p on diesel and about 8p on the 1 jerrycan of petrol I got for quad. Weekly price was creeping up and paperwork was confusing.
I spent more time doublechecking it and got fed up.
Det not worth the hassle

ive said it before and ill say again , get your fuel cards through a machinery ring or buying group , or why tff get organised with cards , when youve a group of buyers rather than an individual the card suppliers wont chance there luck if a customer tells them to stuff it . this week 118.7 plus vat for me this week , have saved hundreds in the 18 months i have had it , sometimes 20 to 25 quid a fill when the local stations have been slow to drop there prices when crude has . this week £9 pound a fill saving for handing over a card

Good point. We made our own syndicate up between me and afew other local haulage firms, 50 odd lorry’s between us all so we use a fair bit of derv and get very good pricing sticking together with it,
