Fuel filters

Cold weather is playing havoc with diesel filters on tractors. Spent a small fortune this week keeping the forklift and two tractors going, each has had new genuine filters fitted. I was wondering what non genuine filters people are using and are some better than others. Rarely seems to get to the 500 hour service interval nowadays with filters.
the claas has had Donaldson filters fitted by local dealer before when we were struggling with fuel.
I put an additive in the fuel tank at the beginning of the week but, l am probably to late with it 🙄

How cold is it with you? Have you got winter fuel in the bulk tank?

No issues at all here -8c.

500 hrs seems a long time.
I've never gone past 250 hrs, basically every time engine oil is changed , change oil and fuel filters. And as been said a good filter on diesel tank as well.

I doubt if many of ours are done at less than a 1000 and that was out of an old steel tank. Shiny new fuel station now with filters on

It’s winter fuel. It’s been down to-10c here. The filters are waxed.
Have you got a filter on the tank? Sounds like the first place to look
Filter on the tank is the next thing on my hit list. Fuel is just waxing up I think, tractors start okay, idles okay then won’t rev above about 1400.
Just got another delivery on Tuesday and added a winter additive to it. Will see if that helps going forward.

Might be a bit of water in there that starts the waxing. Get the filter warmed up well and drain it

What tractors are they? I have had trouble with r series deere but I now wrap the filter infront of the radiator with a cloth to keep the chill of the cold air getting drawn in to the radiator.

When I was a kid we had a new DB1490,the only 4wd in the valley and we were snowed in,1981/2 or thereabouts. Dad fired her up to ferry supplies for six farms and the diesel waxed up Infront of our eyes. Lift pump bowl about a foot behind the fan🫣. Windchill of about absolute zero
