Gatekeeper alternatives ?

After discussions with farmworks in America who then spoke to Trimble Europe / uk we now have a uk based contact for support etc who on the occasion I needed him was really helpful so sticking with Farmworks for now as we now have a decent contact for support. know how to use it and like it and the quote from gatekeeper scared me to death.
They sent me a free 3 week Farmer Pro trial offer, expiring next week.

When they went over to the new subs packages they migrated my account to Basic status. Maybe I’ll take a look. Has much changed over the 2016 version?

The Std Farmworks I'm using with the precision farming module bolted on doesn't seemed to have changed much just quietly evolved over the 8 yrs I've been using it. Annual renewal has gone up but not crazy not sure how much it is to buy as never enquired.

Any developments on this front? @Clive you mentioned in another page that you were trying something out. Can you say anymore?
How far are we away from getting a cloud based version of Gatekeeper? Surely many people are going to start losing patience with paying the support costs for such a dated piece of software. Not sure in which direction I should turn. Seems to be far too many companies cropping up, and not actually delivering any worthwhile alternative.

can't say a lot more about the cloud based system I'm looking at bringing to the UK as subject to a NDA - quite positive so far though and my own testing of it i'm very impressed and its compatibility with cloud accounts like Xero and Figured would make the combination absolutely brilliant for a farm business

and most importantly unlike most others the DATA is yours and is not sold or shared with anyone ! - frankly this is the reason that as you right point out so many new companies are cropping up all in the feeding frenzy to get your data first !

It will be spring 19 before it would be UK available yet though realistically I think - as I know more and can say more I will do. If I can make it happen it will be worth the wait but cant promise anything yet

Just asked for the new version and was told £500/ year. 2016 it was £200
Seems rather steep to me ?

Hi All , I have just seen the interest in Farmflo and thought I would introduce myself , I am Jason Devenney and with my brother Gareth we created Farmflo. It was created out of frustration of existing solutions not doing what we needed for our own farm.

Our software is developed based on feature requests from farmers and I would just like to let everyone know that we are heading in the direction as outlined by Clive in this post. We have a new release of the software coming out in the next two weeks but we do have monthly development builds that sees new features being released onto the platform. So if there are any features that you would like to see in the product we are happy to take suggestions and fit them in. Farmflo also has an IOS and Android app for field recording off line that allows you to capture the data in the field and syncs automatically up to the cloud app.

If anyone is interested I would be more than happy to demo what we have, show our road map and also discuss any feature requests that you have.

Hope this helps and thank you again for your time.
Could you intergrate with the accounts software Xero, I am longing for one package that talks to each and Xero and yourselves seem to be the people that will make that happen.

Would anyone have a uk contact for farmworks ? Phil seems to have gone but I remember hannish and Fiona.

Having an issue with the upgrade package was quoted $495 no they say it’s £495!
Rather steep

Hehehe, yeah welcome to the world of Trimble global pricing or alternatively their exchange rate “hedge” - that is $ and replace with a £ :ROFLMAO:

looking at Rhiza digital (used to be Rhiza precision) any comments or anyone using it?
This will be my 3rd year with them, very helpful and only ever a phone call away from help or advice from your designated account manager.
I find the toolbox software very user friendly and excellent for calculating inputs (seed, fert, lime etc) and documenting fields data.
You can also input yield maps to reference against zones, seed rates, inputs etc.

It’s also great to be able to access satellite images while in the field to help identify problem areas that need looking at.

Yield prediction is also an interesting bonus
(y)

I also use green light grower for my spray records, they also have some nice features for field costings (chem, firt, seed, machine) so you can see exactly what’s been spent in each field to date. I’m just waiting for them to bring out a stock management update to complete the package.

Be interesting to see the accuracy at harvest. How do the figures change across the season?

Also be interesting to see if they can use the data from that to target yield improvements....so you can keep track of the effect of different applications and changed made to fields throughout the year. i.e. added 50kg extra N to one field....does yield prediction increase as a result.
