Ollie didn't comment on that ridiculous rule. I suppose it's nothing to do with woodchip.....Organic fertiliser that we aren’t going to be allowed to spread in the autumn .

I don’t want to appear mean but half a glass of red wine & this jovial leadership of the NFU wouldn’t scare a frightened pussy cat, for Christ’s sake if that’s the best the NFU can put up at a meeting with useless Eustace then it’s no wonder we are a laughing stock in number 10!!
his first answer might actually be correct... a disaster for those forced in to a position of culling but it may indeed rise prices for the rest of the industry, namely the European pig industry.... surprised he did not suggest the culled pigs could fill the fertiliser gap and be used as an organic fertiliser rather than going to incineration... not to be spread until spring though.... Eat less meat, use more organic fertiliser, talk about a complete lack of joined up thinking by the top brass...I've just watched Olly Blogs latest Youtube video and he mentions he attended the Conservative conference NFU fringe meeting where George Eustice was answering questions.
Apparently, GE said that culling pigs could help the industry by reducing the supply and therefore pushing up prices!!!
When asked about the possible shortage of fertiliser he said that it could be a good thing as it would help the country reduce emissions of CO2 and ammonia and we should use more organic fertiliser.
How have we got into a position where the people in charge are so pathetic?
Ah but you don't see the work that goes on behind closed doors - need access Old boy (wink)I don’t want to appear mean but half a glass of red wine & this jovial leadership of the NFU wouldn’t scare a frightened pussy cat, for Christ’s sake if that’s the best the NFU can put up at a meeting with useless Eustace then it’s no wonder we are a laughing stock in number 10!!
And there's a man who hails from a very well repected Cornish farming dynasty - So where has he gone wrong? I can think of several Eustice Cousins and Uncles who would want to kick him up the backside. If he is comfortable putting forward such ideas at a meeting with farmers, how crazy and ill-informed must the conversations be round the cabinet table!
It appears they were only there for the cheese and wine, I think they call it "networking" or somesuch, still they might get a gong....All the NFU hierarchy were there listening to it. Did any of them take him to task on it or just passively listen and wait for the farming industry to get shafted yet again?
Iirc in a previous video, he said he stores it in a thin layer over all the fields.Ollie didn't comment on that ridiculous rule. I suppose it's nothing to do with woodchip.....
The Tory mantra does now seem to be about reducing livestock farming. Boris' dad was going on about the need reduce livestock numbers yesterday, I also noticed they are supporting things like artificial meat production. Is the plan to destabilise the livestock sector in order to get cheap land for their massive tree planting project?Yes but princess nut nut seems to be ‘running’ the country now, so it’s all about rewilding and LGBTQxyz rights now
Thought just the same when I saw about it...If a Farming minister here, said something as scandalous as that, he'd find his car full of dead piglets at best or tipped on his doorstep by the trailer load.
What's the saying lunatics taken over the asylum. If he is comfortable putting forward such ideas at a meeting with farmers, how crazy and ill-informed must the conversations be round the cabinet table!
The guys a first class prat aiming for promotion, much like the rest of this hopeless cabinet! And there's a man who hails from a very well repected Cornish farming dynasty - So where has he gone wrong? I can think of several Eustice Cousins and Uncles who would want to kick him up the backside.
It's a big mistake to confuse Brexit with what this load of clowns are doing, Bozo is happily being led by the nose by his other half & the rest are only ever interested in their future prospects!I’m detecting a sense of surprise at the apparent direction of this Tory Brexit thing. Surprise at the food and farming elements in particular.
I put it to you, that a special needs monkey, with a blindfold and a mallet up its arse, would have foreseen nothing else, but what is now being visited upon British family farmers.
NI farmers are of course 100% protected from this assault on farming, thanks to the Protocol.
Just another observation, which I thought I’d share…

Yes, but the carbon system means that they can easily pay more than generously for the land they buy to plant trees. The Tory mantra does now seem to be about reducing livestock farming. Yes, but the carbon system means that they can easily pay more than generously for the land they buy to plant trees.
It hasn't sunk in to most livestock farmers, particularly ruminant animals, that the agenda is to get rid of them from the UK to allow the UK to claim to be 'carbon free' with trees and re-wilding being not only prioritised but actively promoted instead of grassland fields and meadows that dominate the landscape in many areas today.
The penny will drop with farmers eventually, when the pips are squeezed sufficiently. We are currently in a sort of agricultural 'Indian summer' but this will come to an end rather soon and the reality of Brexit and the policies of both major political parties are seen through. Farming and food production plays an insignificant part in their grand plan. Indeed they both aim to virtually phase grassland farming out, only they daren't say so out loud in so many words.
'They' being not necessarily Government. It is their policies that are incentivising the likes of BP, Tesco, British Airways and many others to commercially buy up tracts of productive and marginal land to, on paper, reduce their carbon emissions to zero. They can easily afford to outbid any farmer for such land as they are desperate to pretend to be 'carbon neutral' and are currently penalised for their unavoidable carbon emissions. It doesn't matter that the land is already a carbon sink. It isn't currently owned by gross emitters, so when it changes into their hands they claim all the dodgy figures for sequestration as their own, offsetting the millions of tons of fossil fuels they collectively emit daily.Yes but if it goes to far and a few empty shelves that would focus minds . Are they all putting money into plastic meat production so they can plant trees on top quality land, stupid.
No, see my posts before the refI’m detecting a sense of surprise at the apparent direction of this Tory Brexit thing. Surprise at the food and farming elements in particular.
Thought I’d better fix that for you.It appears they were only there for the cheese and wine, I think they call it "nOtworking" or somesuch, still they might get a gong....
