Arable Farmer
How funny was talking about this yesterday ,
and then this morning found this thread . When the family farm used to keep sheep before we all went arable .
I can remember drilling wheat in early September for ewes and lambs for grazing in March when we would be lambing . Dad used to say they would eat the diseased leaves off and the plant would start off the growing season with nice clean leaves.
The benefit was a good clean crop,
and the ewes milked well so got lambs away quickly.

It would be grazed down to nothing and it used to bounce back like it had not been touched
I would say we had a yield loss but the benefit to the sheep is more beneficial for the sheep
but we were still getting over 3 to 3.5 tonnes per acre
