How late is too late for winter barley

Drilled winter barley around 17th November in 2021. It produce alot of straw and went flat after a robust pgr programme. With a wet July for harvesting never again. Got 30ha of winter barley left to drill, have decided not to drill.

Yes late barley goes flat easily, saying that we still haven’t drilled ours. Looks about Monday next wk start for us.

I put some in 10 days ago with the saber tine just coming through nicely this morning just don't know to carry on and get the last 40 acre in be ploughed now to try make as good seed bed as possible but I really don't know what to do

Where are you, makes a lot of difference.

Latest I've drilled winter barley that did ok was the end of March. It did better than the stuff I paddled in, in late October.
I've occasionally used up winter barley seed in April to bulk up grass seed but if we hadn't whole cropped it we'd have been combining in December!
