Found the solution and a simple one at that.
Borrowed a Maschio power harrow 6m. Smashes the straw and fills in the Flatlift channels. Enough loose soil. Decent seed bed!

Putting N and molasses down the spout. Thinking of drilling the ab15 at 3/4” rather than 1/2”… should be alright?

Not sure ab15 has any requirement for autumn nitrogen......

Well, my daddy chopped all his straw and will be putting his ab15 into it.

It's more a case of, with the autumn manure hoo-ha, that I didn't think nitrogen was allowed on in any circumstances now. There are lots of perfectly decent straw solutions that are not allowed - bit of nitrogen and some sunshine; swan vestas etc.

I'd go twice over with the discs and press, roll, convi drill, then roll. Maybe roll again.

Plan to roll pre and post drill.
use a squirt of N with dd a lot of the time tbh, being the rules a bit. Makes a difference
