isuzu lag weird problem on the 1.9

Hi, got a new 1.9 isuzu pickup this year, its got this weird lag when you accelerate its starts to go then dies, then after 1 to 2 seconds starts to accelerate again, it dont do it all the time buts its getting worse and finding it dangerous now.
Bit like when you overtake a bike for instance, you get along side it then just sit there for a second or 2.
Dealer says there is a problem but no software to fix it yet.
any others do this? might not be so obvious on an auto as ours is a manual.

Its brand new, surely it's not normal to die when accelerating. Kind of goes, dies then goes. Dangerous if you ask me.

If they can't fix a brand new vehicle, are you not best to get rid and say goods unfit for purpose? I'd also consider reporting it to VOSA or whoever, that is dangerous.

Similar symptoms with a car here, dealer replaced turbo complete.

the whole ''not fit for purpose'' gets banded about far to much. In reality it wont stand up in court. I see it on here far too much as the be all and end all, which it isnt. If its still under warranty. Ask for a loan car or a letter from them saying its safe to use while you wait for software update

Well it clearly isn’t fit for purpose! If they can’t fix it then I would say they have an obligation to supply a replacement.

I wasnt disagreeing , I was just stating people use the phrase and expect the world to move for them. I'd be nice and escalte the issue until you get what you want.

Lots of brands of engines have peculiar lag and flat spot characteristics these days, mainly due to the emissions regulations they must meet. As hinted at, automatic transmissions with a torque convertor manages to disguise the worse of the flat spots but not all.
In many cases there are significant lag issues off idle, when pulling hard away from junctions for instance, to minimise soot emissions. The better engines have twin turbos and possibly a means of boosting one of the turbo's speed and cylinder charge from the off-boost state. That allows more fuel to be injected and cleanly burnt from a slow no-load state to full pelt.

In this case, this is not the first Isuzu 1.9 I have heard about that is like this, so it is a 'characteristic' rather than a fault. You either live with it, hope that Isuzu may have some future update, or get it remapped by a competent technician. I would not hold my breath for an update, because they still have to meet the same regulations and operating limits.

There is an off-chance that there is a faulty component, but the dealer doesn't seem to think so.

when I say accelerate its not from idle, does the same when doing 60 to 70 on the motorway.
Have called the dealer again today and they are speaking to Isuzu uk.
Since new ive been told of a software update, maybe it wont come...

I might try that, dont think im getting much wheel slip at 60 on the motorway.....

Its bad if it does it when already running at working revs and load. Maybe try another dealer who may be more open-minded to an actual mechanical issue. Have they connected it to a computer and read any fault codes present?

Unless it was designed like it, then it’s a fault! Are all 1.9s like it? If not, then again it would suggest a fault.

The world needs less bulls**t and more common sense!

Good value for money. same as most trucks bit light in the backend. They have a recall on them for the rear suspension

Ours does this a little bit, not too bad but it is noticeable. I wouldn’t say ours was dangerous. Funny thing is it didn’t do it when I first got it, it’s only after it went in for an update it seems to have developed

Ours definitely worse after the update.
