I’m looking at a 6930 premium that I’ve nearly dealt for but the display screen on right hand side seems to have lost its lighting as you have to go in really close to see what it says. Is it an easy fix or expensive??

As usual you’re in bashing something you’ve never had all on hearsay. I don’t go on your threads bashing valtra I’ve run John Deere for 20 years and personally find them hard to beat for reliability and yes I do own a valtra!!!
I’m not bashing anything , just pointing out the weak points for you to check, don’t get caught out having to spend €20 k on a similar tractor like a neighbour here did.

Fancy listing out what the 20 grand was on? I've just got the brakes done as a precaution on my 6930 and the shaft for the PTO in the backend and head gasket and head rebuild and full service at a main dealer for less than 5 grand so he must have got a new engine and transmission.

Anyway if James has finished, back on topic.
I’d start by checking the screen brightness hasn’t just been turned down in the display settings. You can manually set to day, night or auto. If the back light has failed altogether give David King electronics a call. They will more than likely be able to repair it at a reasonable price but they won’t usually quote until they’ve inspected it. Easy enough to remove, just a couple of screws and a plug. Best part of £1800 for a new screen so getting it repaired would be the way to go. Hope that’s a little more helpful.

Why when you can buy touch screens tablets and TV for few hundred do manufacturers use such expensive screens in kit.

Astounding

The screen probably isn’t expensive, just the retail price! Although they are made slightly more heavy duty than your average tablet etc. But I totally agree, the electrical components should be the cheapest things on the machine in this day and age!

It's like gearboxes on certain topper, specifically made for certain brands. It's a make up con.

Plenty of off the shelf components avaliable. Milking robots we use have air rams, I can source them direct from manufacturer. Bog standard off the shelf next day 👍 that's how it should be.

You would think so. However there is nasty thing in the world and parts getting obsolete than you have real problem.

They don't use expensive screens, the components are all completely off the shelf and cost them less than 200.
JD charges you 1800 because that's what they can get away with asking for it...
