Krone mower issue on valtra T series

Got new T154 for this summer and our mower is a 3 year old krone 320 mounted conditioner mower, first cut we knackered the uj and the yoke on the conditioner drive shaft didn’t think too much of it as thought possibly just wear and tear with heavy crops too that had done it. Now after some second cut I went to grease it and noticed it’s wobbly and the uj is moving , also the yokes appear to have been damaged when it’s getting folded up for transport as perfectly straight shaft in work and when lifting at ends. I’m thinking when I switch pto off on this valtra it must really lock the shafts do when I fold up if the shaft not just in right position to mesh in it will force it round damaging yokes, I suppose only way round it is to switch pto into neutral before folding up. Previously ran this mower on a case puma for two seasons and never put it in neutral too fold up and no issues ( not that I want the puma back mind) lol

Can't you put your tractor PTO in neutral like most other makes?

Yes I have a neutral pto position . This looks to be only way round the issue but never had the issue I other tractors ever. Finish cutting knock the pto off wait until it stops then fold the mower up never had to remember to put into neutral before folding

The pto turned off is still in the selected gear speed 540 or 1000 , so it will be locked but most tractors are like this so that's not the problem , your pto should have an over run clutch which gives plenty of play for folding up , are you running the mower at the right height or putting too much angle on the shafts.

I have a slip cutch one side and overrun on other side . Overrun is new as it got wrecked the first time . The shaft when cutting is perfect straight and doesn’t alter too much when lifted, it’s the fold position that’s doing the damage

The over run allows all the give it needs so the locked pto is not the problem .

Doesn’t matter if PTO is in gear or neutral if it’s not engaged and the PTO brake is not applied it should be turnable by hand from the rear of the tractor.

As above if you put your pto selecter into 1000 position and try and turn the tractor pto to put shaft on it won’t turn I have a N154e with same mower great outfit I always switch pto of and then turn selector to neutral straight away never a good idea to fold a pto shaft more than 90 degrees while turning

I have various makes of tractor and when pto is in a selected gear u can’t turn shaft by hand , always have to put into neutral when coupling a shaft up. On my previous puma it was the same couldn’t turn shaft but there must have been some give when I folded mower up as ran it in it for two years no issues

Yes that works fine as we were both cutting in same field other day and I noticed when the krone was switched of it ran on quite a bit longer than the Kuhn I was using so over run works

As said it's got an overrun so that shouldn't make any difference.

Have a look at the pto stub on start up. On Some tractors the stub spins half a turn initially until there's oil pressure to put the brake on. If it's doing this with enough force and the mowers folded up then the pto yoke is going to suffer.

Obviously the mower is not folded up when we start it, it would snap the shaft clean off. When folded down for work even when lifted at end of rows this shaft runs straight hardly any angle. U can physically see on the two yokes where they are been forced together and can only be when folding up for transport this happens but I suppose the over run clutch should sort this and allow some movement so they mesh in right for folding up. I don’t know whether to blame the tractor or the mower. Tractor I think

You've not grasped what I mean. If you start the tractor with the mower in folded position and the pto try's to turn for a fraction of a second it will cause your issue.
Get someone to watch the pto stub when you start the engine
