Bought a new front mower in 2015 machine has only done 2 seasons due to being delivered late in 2015 and not used the last 2 due to a gearbox failure .The machine has done roughly 50 to 60hrs work but I was disappointed having a breakdown with such a new machine ,anyway machine went in to dealer in june last year and was not repaired until end of September my problem is Kuhn have been un helpful and I am not happy to pay for the repair as the gearbox has a 200hr service interval what do people think .

Kuhn were always one of the worst payers on warranty claims & even if they did pay us ( the dealer ) you generally only ever got a fraction of the hours claimed.
Having said that they did make very good machines as rule, extremely reliable & the gearboxes were equally as good so you rarely had to make claims on Kuhn products.

I have to say though most of their gearboxes needed an initial oil change after 10 or 20 hours to get rid of any bits of metal filings etc that maybe in the box from new & initial bedding in.

I am quoting from over 20 years ago mind when I last worked at a Kuhn dealer so things may have changed somewhat ?

you do realise this is 2020! Not used for last two seasons and then you put it in for repair and expect warrant, not a chance. You should have taken it back immediately after failure and you may have had a chance

It is still the same with a fairy early gearbox oil swap with one we had new last year.

Yes I do realise it is 2020, but the fact remains the machine has done very little and if used by a contractor would have failed earlier.
I find it disappointing with such a big firm for being so short sighted ,the area manager is a very informed and helpful but dealer backup and paintwork leave a lot to be desired.

just a quick update dealer fix lasted 5 acres told to take a hike when asked to guarantee their work .

We had ongoing gearbox issues with a Krone trailed mower, kept getting so hot the paint was bubbling off the gearbox, put it into the dealer and they sorted it. 30 acres later smoke billowing off it again and chattering. Back into the dealers told them we aren’t paying this time. So they sorted it again. Probably 50 acres later same issue.

Guy from Krone UK came to help the dealer sort it out that time and it was perfect ever after. Sometimes the dealers just can’t seem to get the tolerances right.
