Kverneland fert settings

I’ve got a KV geo spread spreader and when setting it up for spreading a product I can never find the product I’m spreading or much close to it on the KV app(after doing the shaker test etc) for example 25-3-3 at the moment.

Mostly always spreading Origin fertiliser blends. I regularly tray test a new product but it would be handy to be close to where it should be to start with. There seems to be plenty of Yara fertilisers on the KV app, wondering if I should change to them?

What does everyone else do?

They tell me that Yara is a much better product in many respects. It spreads better and more uniformly etc and the machine stays cleaner. However, it's more expensive.
If you do the shake test and select the nearest product from the list it should work OK. Are you using the phone app and keeping it updated??

We have a Vicon geospread and this is a discussion I have had with Vicon many times. The short and long of it is do the shaker test and weigh the product, fill in the app and set the spreader to what the app recommends. Then wait a few weeks and see if you were right. If you were the 1 nil to you if not then try another setting next time. Or you could speak to some one at Vicon/kv who will say do tray test, use app, we test lots of products but not really answer the question.

There is not enough products tested but we have just gone by what the app suggests and hope that is right, but sulphur is not nice stuff to spread I have asked whether it is better to go to the closest recommendation or the closest recommendation with sulphur but i didn't get an answer. We were told to spray the vanes with WD40 at each load.

Yeah I think it is more expensive but if it was only an £ 10-15 a tonne and it was tray tested in a fancy shed at KV I’d go with that[emoji28]

Yeah using the app, always just pick something close. But similar products can be 2/3 letters away from each other on the settings for the geo point[emoji854]

Yeah just pick something as close to the shaker test and 1 litre weight as you can find[emoji51][emoji28]

Do u ever have much issue with spreading the headland?

We’ve got the border arm thing but I hate seeing fert flying into the hedge/dyke/nettles. So I keep a wee bit further out & end up with a light crop on the first meter or 2 in from the edge.

I have a vicon, I will shake test and weigh and go with the product closest to the values I’ve put in. Use the setting suggested on the app and tray test it if the shake value wasn’t exactly the same. I have always thought the app works the wrong way around as you should be able to put the product name in and search for the settings that way around but I suppose there is that many different blends available it is impractical for them to input all the data.

Crop master spreads the same as multi cut sulphur it's got 2 options one is letter O the other is M at 24m but needs to be L when I put it over trays as I striped before testing

Most blended stuff is around letter M at 24m

Most smaller nitrogen is letter I

I've been experimenting with the border spreader best I can come up with is run it fir the wider setting but shut the PTO speed back and it doesn't seem to effect the field side of the spreader I don't get too many yellow bits at 12m inside the endrig tramline

We find it makes a lot of dust when using the headland limiter

Yeah I so miss that bit of my kuhn it just slowed the one disc and shifted the drop point so no dust

With my old spreader we used to just drive tightish to the fence with only the inside side spreading. It worked a treat[emoji1]. Shame I couldn’t do that with the KV although its a bit of a ball-ache running out on that side fairly quickly ?

It’s not just me then
I only find it an issue on nitrogen as it's at no9 and the wheel and mud guard and windows get covered in dust most other stuff is at no5 so just covers the spreader but yeah if there's one thing I really don't like it's the border limiter

How are you getting on other than that I've got one of my actuators playing up a bit it'll need sorted at some point but not just yet

Yeah good, its a great piece of kit. Saving a fair bit of fertiliser over the year as well. Mine will be in its 4th year now.
I’ve had some bad luck with actuators. I’ve replaced 5 [emoji24]. When I strip them down theres no corrosion inside they’re like new. The KV tech guy has said it could probably be the potentiometer inside them. You can buy them as a separate part. Going to send them all down to David King Electronics and hopefully get a few back working for spares [emoji51]??
